Chapter I - Introduction to the Bible

This work is entitled "All the Books of the Bible" for a very important reason. Most of us today have not read our Bibles all the way through. Many of our churches seem to favor certain passages or books of the Bible and we "layman" do not realize that the Bible was not written to tell us what not to do, but to help us live every day of our lives better. The entire Bible is important, not just the Gospels, letters to Paul and don't forget the Book of Acts. We as a Christian people have so compartmentalized our faiths that we think in these terms:

For Praise and Worship: The book of Psalms

For Christmas: The Gospels of Luke and Matthew

For Easter: Gospel of John and Book of Luke

For Witnessing: Romans Road

For Spiritual Gifts: Acts and First Corinthians

Why do we think like this, because we only know what our Pastors, Preachers and Priests teach us! We are not reading it for ourselves! This weekly commentary will help you to know each book of the bible from Genesis to Revelation.

The Following is something I memorized 35 years ago while attending Sunday school:

In Genesis the World was made, in Exodus the march was told.

Leviticus contains the law, in Numbers are the tribes enrolled.

In Deuteronomy again we're urged to keep God's law alone.

And these five books of Moses make the oldest writings that are known.

Brave Joshua to Canaan leads in Judges oft the Jews rebel.

We read of David's name in Ruth and First and Second Samuel.

In First and Second Kings we read how bad the Hebrew State became.

In First and Second Chronicles, another history of the same.

In Ezra Captive Jews return, while Nehemiah builds the wall;

Queen Esther saves her race from death.

These books historical we call.

All of us enjoy or should enjoy spending time with our children. We also enjoy teaching our children values that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. This is why this commentary is written in such a simple way. You can spend 10 minutes a week with your child or grandchild, if they read have them read it out loud, and answer these questions together. One of the prophecies of the last times talks about turning the hearts of the Fathers to the children and the children to the Fathers, lest I come and smite the Earth with a curse. Every one of us could fulfill this prophecy in our own way by sharing the story of our Fathers of Faith with our Children. This book is designed to help you do just that. Let us review last week's poem again from the beginning:

In Genesis the World was made, in Exodus the march was told.

Leviticus contains the law, in Numbers are the tribes enrolled.

In Deuteronomy again we're urged to keep God's law alone.

And these five books of Moses make the oldest writings that are known.

Brave Joshua to Canaan leads in Judges oft the Jews rebel.

We read of David's name in Ruth and First and Second Samuel.

In First and Second Kings we read how bad the Hebrew State became.

In First and Second Chronicles, another history of the same.

In Ezra Captive Jews return, while Nehemiah builds the wall;

Queen Esther saves her race from death.

These books historical we call

In Job we read of Patient Faith, in Psalms are David's songs of Praise;

The Proverbs are to make us wise; Ecclesiastes next portrays how vain

Fleeting earthly pleasures are; The Song of Solomon is all

About the love of Christ, and these five books poetical we call.

Isaiah tells of Christ to come, while Jeremiah tells of woe. And in his Lamentations mourns

The Holy Cities overthrow. Ezekiel speaks of mysteries, while Daniel foretells the Kings of old;

Hosea calls men to repent; In Joel judgements are foretold. Amos tells of wrath and Edom,

Obadiah is sent to warn, while shows how Christ should rise and Micah where He should be born;

In Nahum Nineveh is seen, in Habakkuk, Chaldea's guilt; Zephaniah, Judah's sins, Haggai the Temples built. Zechariah tells of Christ, and Malachi Elijah, his signs,
